Tura, June 19: Hours after a video of Police personnel taking bribe from public has gone viral on social media, now the West Garo Hills Police have responded on the same.

The video was first reported by the Hub News on its portal.

Taking to the official social media handle’s, West Garo Hills Police said that this incident is embarrassing for them.

WGH Police also informed that the man in uniform who was caught in camera taking bribe has been identified and departmental action has been initiated.

Here is what West Garo Hills Police said:

Dear residents,

A video of a Tura Traffic Branch personnel allegedly taking bribe is being widely circulated in social media.

It is really embarrassing for us.

The person has been identified and departmental action has been initiated.

Tura Traffic Branch has been working really hard round the clock to regulate the traffic in Tura town properly. We will continue to do the same to the best of our capabilities.

Let’s not undermine the painstaking efforts being made by every member of the force to keep you safe.

Thank You.

Punishment inflicted upon him

Meanwhile, the residents of the state has been informed that the traffic constable was heard in Orderly Room by District SP  and punishment has been inflicted upon him as per rules.

He has also been removed from Traffic duties and closed to Police Reserve. All Traffic personnel have been briefed and directed not to repeat such misconduct.
