Huge quantity of explosives coming from Meghalaya recovered in Cachar, 1 arrested

Guwahati, July 15: In a joint operation, Assam Rifles and Cachar police seized 400 numbers of gelatine sticks and 400 numbers of detonators from a vehicle bearing registration AS11CC9214 at Kalain Masimpur road in Cachar district on Friday.

Police have also apprehended one person in connection with the seizure.

Top officials of Assam Rifles said the explosives were seized in Kalain while being smuggled. The consignment was coming from Meghalaya and was supposed to go to Manipur where situation is still tense.

On the basis of secret inputs, Assam Rifles’ Srikona Battalion teams along with Cachar’s Kalain police managed to recover the large quantity of explosives from a Sumo vehicle in Padritila area of Kalain under Katigorah constituency of Cachar district.

According to police, the person named Prosenjit, resident of Gumrah area of Kalain, who was carrying the explosives in his vehicle, has been apprehended .
