Shillong, Nov 15: In yet another story that proves the growing football talent among the youth of the state which is being acknowledged by clubs across the country, I-League club Sudeva Delhi FC has signed Khasi lad Chesterpaul Lyngdoh for a one year deal for the Hero I-League 2021-22 edition.
In a telephonic interview with Hub News, Chesterpaul said, “We should have faith in God and ourselves. We (Khasi) should put more effort and dedication if we want to succeed… our height must be small but our goals in life should be big, we should always be humble…”
Narrating his arduous journey, he recalls how people used to mock him for his height.
Instead of being discouraged by remarks such as “you are too short” among others, he was only motivated to succeed and prove everyone wrong. “I am just 5 feet tall but that did not stop me from playing from India’s big club like Pune City FC, Mohun Bagan, Churchill Brothers and Real Kashmir… therefore I want my friends from Meghalaya too to never give up on their goals in life.”Captaining Pune City FC (ISL reserved team)
“I only get paid 1000 rupees when I started my career as a professional footballer, chase your dream first then money will chase after you” added Lyngdoh.
His next goal is to don the Indian national football team jersey to represent the country at the international area and to participate in the Hero Indian Super League
“I will continue to find my playing form this season I-League, hoping for opportunities to come from big clubs in the next season,” stated Lyngdoh.
Lyngdoh, who recently featured for Ryntih FC in the I-League Qualifiers at Bangalore where he was on loan from Real Kashmir, said the style of play is totally different compared to the Shillong based football club Ryntih. “Here at Sudeva, we have experienced coach and management.., it’s a different picture compared to Ryntih,” he mentioned.
Chesterpaul Lyngdoh has won the IFA Shield last December with Real Kashmir, played 25 I-League games for Churchill Brothers and 3 for Mohun Bagan, scoring four goals in a total of 49 appearances.
