Iakyrshan Cooperative celebrates 3rd anniversary with launch of new Ginger Processing Unit

Nongpoh, Oct 28: The Iakyrshan Cooperative marked its 3rd anniversary with launch of a new Ginger Processing Unit on Monday. Veterinary & Animal Husbandry Minister, A.L Hek, inaugurated the Ginger Processing Unit at Tyrso Village, Ri Bhoi District.

The event drew various dignitaries, including Mawhati MLA Charles Marngar; M.K. Kharmudai, AGM and District Project Manager; R. Sten, Sordar of Tyrso Pyllun; Society President Iohilut Lyngdoh; society members; and other community leaders and residents.

Marking an important milestone, the 3rd anniversary celebrated the Society’s ongoing contributions to supporting and empowering the local community, particularly women. The newly inaugurated Ginger Processing Unit, managed by the Society with financial assistance from the Meghalaya Basin Management Agency, stands as a valuable resource for local farmers.

In his speech, Hek praised the society’s commitment, noting that its dedicated efforts led to the establishment of the Ginger Processing Unit. He emphasized its role in benefiting the agricultural activities and livelihoods of farmers across the Ri Bhoi District.

“Ri Bhoi District is known for its rich agricultural produce, and this Ginger Processing Unit will greatly enhance local farmers’ ability to process and market their crops,” Hek remarked.

He further encouraged society members and village authorities to collaborate in effectively utilizing the Ginger Processing Unit, stressing the importance of recognizing government support. He highlighted that partnerships could foster impactful community projects that uplift the region.
