Tura, Sept 27: The Department of Travel and Tourism Management of The ICFAI University Meghalaya, Tura observed World Tourism Day 2023 on Wednesday in collaboration with the Department of Tourism, South West Garo Hills, Govt. of Meghalaya.
To mark the celebration, the students and the Faculties also conducted cleaning drive at Pelga Falls premises and Tree plantation at Model Village, Balonggre in the presence of Ava Shereen O. Sangma, District Tourist Officer, South West Garo Hills, Meghalaya along with the Asst. Professors of the Department of Garo and Department of Travel and Tourism Management, Venybirthseng Ch. Marak and Bryan Boon R Marak.
A short briefing on the concept of World Tourism Day theme Tourism & Green Investment was done by Ellerie N Arengh, Asst Professor of the ICFAI University Meghalaya, Tura.
Every year, World Tourism Day is celebrated on September 27th. This day aims to raise awareness about the importance of tourism and its social, cultural, political, and economic impact on the world.
The day also highlights the potential of tourism to contribute to sustainable development and promote global understanding and peace.
