Tura, Apr 16: The ICFAI University, Meghalaya, Tura campus on Wednesday organised a comprehensive Career Counselling Program aimed at guiding Class XII students who have recently appeared for their board exams.
The event drew participation from students eager to explore their future academic and career paths.
The session began with Dr. Kanika Das, Assistant Professor in the Department of Education, who engaged students in identifying their interests, strengths, and aspirations. A psychometric test was conducted to help participants gain insight into their personalities and potential career matches. Dr. Das also highlighted the scope of the humanities stream, emerging career options, and the impact of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. She emphasized the role of the university’s placement cell in helping students transition into professional life.

Following this, Dr. Dikme Chisil B Marak, Assistant Professor in the Department of IT, introduced students to the dynamic world of Information Technology. She spoke on trending areas such as Artificial Intelligence, coding, and design, encouraging students to explore the growing digital landscape.
Jyotirmoy Roy, Assistant Professor in the Department of Management, discussed the wide-ranging opportunities in management, focusing on soft skills, internships, data analytics, and business intelligence. He stressed the importance of continuous skill development in today’s competitive job market.
Ellerie Arengh, Assistant Professor in the Department of Travel & Tourism Management, shed light on the booming tourism sector and its diverse career prospects. She pointed out that tourism graduates are eligible for competitive exams and government jobs, and can pursue careers in airlines, cruises, and hospitality.

The session concluded with Muktadul Hussain, Senior Administrative Officer, who presented an overview of the courses offered by the university, emphasizing the institution’s commitment to academic excellence and student success.
As part of its continued effort to guide students, ICFAI University Meghalaya is offering free career counselling sessions. Students from across the state are encouraged to visit the Tura campus for personalised advice from experienced faculty and career experts.
