ICFAI University Tura welcomes freshmen with motivational & informative orientation

Tura, July 30: The ICFAI University Tura hosted the One-Day Orientation Program for the first-year undergraduate students on Tuesday with parents and guardians also attending the event at the University Hall.

The orientation’s aim was to familiarize students with the academic structure, rules, and regulations of the institution.

The undergraduate classes are scheduled to commence from August 1.

Wonton Khamrang, Assistant Professor in the Department of English, adeptly compered the program, setting a welcoming tone for the day.

A highlight of the event was the motivational speech delivered by Dr. V.S. B. Sangma, Advisor and Campus Head, who inspired the students with her words of encouragement and wisdom.

Chompaboti Hajong, Assistant Professor in the Department of Management and Academic Coordinator at ICFAI University Meghalaya (IUM) Tura, provided an insightful academic overview. She introduced the students to ICFAI University Meghalaya Tura, detailing the academic regulations, course structure, and general guidelines essential for their academic journey.

Dr. Savitri Koch, Assistant Professor in the Department of Education and Examination Coordinator, explained the examination rules and evaluation system, ensuring that students understood the assessment methods that would be applied throughout their courses.

The orientation on financial regulations, discipline, and the code of conduct was given by Student Counselor, Rikchina R. Marak, who emphasized the importance of adhering to university policies.

Library Assistant, Babulal Prasad, highlighted the critical role of the university library, promoting its use to foster analytical thinking and problem-solving skills. He informed students about the library’s collaboration with DELNET, which they could access after completing their registration.

Adding a cultural touch to the program, students from the BA Political Science and BCA departments performed a vibrant Nepali dance.

Ellerie N. Arengh, Assistant Professor in the Tourism Department and Placement Coordinator, spoke about the Placement Cell’s role in supporting students’ career aspirations. She emphasized its function as a bridge between students, alumni, and the employment community.

Arkanza Sangma, Assistant Professor in the Commerce Department and Internship Coordinator, discussed the importance of internships. He explained how these projects allow students to apply classroom knowledge to real-world business environments, gaining invaluable experience.

The National Service Scheme (NSS) was introduced by Dikki N. Marak, Assistant Professor in the Department of Commerce. He detailed the activities of the NSS units at IUM Tura and encouraged students to register under the MyBharat Portal post-registration.

The program concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Rachel Nokrime A. Sangma, Assistant Professor in the Department of Political Science, who expressed gratitude to all participants and organizers for making the event a success.
