Must read

Shillong, Oct 23: The National People’s Youth Front (NPYF) on Friday slammed the three individuals who submitted a representation to Governor Satya Pal Malik recently, alleging harassment to non-tribals in Ichamati and Bholaganj area by the local residents.

Addressing the media in Shillong, NPYF national working president Nickey Nongkhlaw said the allegations made by these three individuals are baseless and untrue and, appealed to the people of the state, irrespective of their community and religion not to fall prey to such statements and rumours.

Furthermore, the NPYF also lambasted the former governor of Meghalaya, Tathagata Roy for making “inflammatory” statements on social media at a fluid time when the state is witnessing a re-emergence of the Ichamati issue.

The NPYF national president also came down heavily on the president of the All Mahila Congress Committee, Sushmita Dev for allegedly exaggerating the facts without proof or evidence to support her claims.

Nongkhlaw also stated that the interference of external forces in the state affairs is nothing but their attempts to garner support in view of the assembly elections due in Assam and West Bengal next year.

It may be recalled that Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma had on Wednesday stated that the government is talking to all the groups, both from the state and outside, on the issue with a hope that the matter is resolved at the earliest.
