Shillong, June 20: IIM Shillong, in collaboration with the Government of Arunachal Pradesh, recently organized the Management Development Program (MDP) tailored for District Tourism Officers (DTOs) and Tourism Information Officers (TIOs), Government of Arunachal Pradesh.
This program, held at the IIM Shillong Satellite Centre in Tawang, marks a pivotal step towards fostering professional growth, driving economic advancement, and advocating sustainable tourism practices across the state.
In collaboration with the Abdul Kalam Centre for Policy Research and Analysis, IIM Shillong has embarked on various initiatives aimed at promoting sustainable development and community empowerment.
Recently, the members of the Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) completed a rigorous 5-day residential training program at IIM Shillong, aimed at enhancing their administrative skills and governance.
Brigadier V. S. Rajput, Commander of the 190 Mountain Brigade in Tawang while gracing the program as the Chief Guest, highlighted the immense potential of Tawang and Arunachal Pradesh as a whole, as prime tourist destinations. He emphasized leveraging natural resources, preserving cultural heritage, enhancing infrastructure, and adopting sustainable tourism practices to foster economic growth and community well-being.
KN Damo, Director of the Tourism Department, Government of Arunachal Pradesh, emphasized the critical role of such training programs in shaping the future of tourism in the region. He urged participants to leverage their learnings to propel Arunachal Pradesh as a leading tourism hub.

The MDP is structured around three key dimensions: Economic Development, Marketing Strategies, and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Participants are encouraged to integrate these dimensions into their roles to drive inclusive growth and promote Arunachal Pradesh on the global tourism map.
The IIM Shillong Satellite Centre in Tawang has evolved into a beacon of knowledge, dedicated to empowering local administrators, and enhancing governance capabilities in Arunachal Pradesh.
