Tura, Feb 8: Acting on numerous complaints and grievances regarding the unauthorised establishment and operation of toll and check gates within the district, the District Magistrate of West Garo Hills, Tura, issued an order under Section 144 Cr PC, effectively prohibiting the illegal setup and operation of toll and check gates without proper authorization across the jurisdiction of the West Garo Hills District.

The order mandates Sub-Divisional Magistrates, along with police personnel, forest officials, and other law enforcement agencies, to promptly identify and dismantle any such unauthorised gates within the district’s jurisdiction. It emphasises that individuals found to be contravening this directive will face legal consequences as per relevant provisions.

This prohibition shall remain in effect until rescinded so as to ensure lawful practices within the district and safeguard public interests.
