Guwahati, June 19: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned of heavy to very heavy rainfall, with isolated instances of extremely heavy rains, particularly in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, and Meghalaya, with moderate rainfall in other parts of the northeastern region over the next 24 hours.
According to IMD’s latest advisory on Wednesday, there is also a significant likelihood of thunderstorms and lightning occurring at isolated places in the northeastern regions. It said thunderstorms and lightning is likely to occur at isolated places over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura.
The residents have been urged to stay informed and take necessary precautions to stay safe during this period of inclement weather.
The “Meghdoot” app is available for Agromet advisories, and the “Damini” app can be used for lightning warnings.
Many parts of Assam and Meghalaya have been undulated due to incessant rain in the last few days, cutting off vital road links and damaging hectares of land.
