Tura, Dec 01: The legendary Swedish band Europe performed at the Me’gong festival in Baljek, West Garo Hills, creating an unforgettable experience for the 90,000-strong crowd.
This iconic band, famous for hits like “The Final Countdown,” returned to India after 36 years, having last performed in Mumbai in 1988.
What made this event even more special was the presence of Indian rock veterans Indus Creed, who shared the stage with Europe. Interestingly, Indus Creed had opened for Europe in Mumbai back in 1988, when they were known as “Rock Machine.”
The Me’gong Festival attracted music lovers from all over the country, as many believed this would be Europe’s last tour to India.
The event was attended by Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma, Tourism Minister Paul Lyngdoh, PHE Minister Marcuise Marak, Chief Secretary DP Wahlang, and Tourism Commissioner Dr Vijay Kumar, who were all seen thoroughly enjoying the music.
The energy was electric, with the crowd singing along and grooving to the music for nearly an hour. The concert concluded in style with Europe’s hit song “The Final Countdown”.
