Shillong, April 22: As a mark of respect to His Holiness Pope Francis, Supreme Pontiff of the Holy See, India has announced 3 days of State Mourning.
Pope Francis passed away at around 11 AM on Monday morning, at the age of 88 years.

In a message to the chief secretaries of all state governments and administrators of Union Territories, the Ministry of Home Affairs said two days of State Mourning will be observed on April 22 and 23; while the third day of the State Mourning will be on the day of the funeral – the date of which is yet to be announced.
During the period of the State Mourning, the National Flag will be flown at Half Mast throughout India on all buildings where the National Flag is flown regularly and there will be no official entertainment.
