Guwahati, April 5: In a swift sea-air coordinated operation, the India Coast Guard evacuated a stranded crew with critical heart condition from Sri Lankan Fishing Vessel (SLFV) ‘Kalpeni’ about 100 Nm from Chennai.
The SLFV was adrift at sea due to engine failure since 28 Mar 24. The ICG ws coordinating with MRCC Colombo for early return of SLFV to Base Port.
The patient was evacuated by ICGS Rani Abakka deep at sea and subsequently air-lifted by ICG ALH Mk-III helo deployed from ICG Air Station at Chennai. He was handed over to officials from Sri Lankan Embassy for further treatment.
