Guwahati, May 10: India denounced Pakistan’s continued hostilities, stating that civilian areas and religious sites in Jammu, including the historic Shambhu Temple, were deliberately targeted in overnight drone attacks. The Indian government accused Pakistan of “provocative and escalatory” actions, warning of consequences while reaffirming its commitment to acting responsibly.
In a strongly worded statement, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri said, “Pakistan’s actions are provocative and escalatory. In response, India has defended and reacted responsibly and measuredly.” He dismissed claims made by Pakistan regarding successful attacks on Indian military installations as “lies, misinformation, and propaganda.”
Misri categorically denied Pakistani assertions about the destruction of Indian air force facilities, including bases at Sirsa, Suratgarh, and the S-400 installation at Adampur, calling them “completely false.”

Wing Commander Vyomika Singh detailed the breadth of Pakistan’s offensive overnight, which included the use of multiple armed drones, long-range weapons, and fighter aircraft targeting both civilian zones and military infrastructure. She said Indian forces successfully neutralised the majority of the threats but acknowledged “limited damage” at air force stations in Udhampur, Pathankot, Adampur, and Bhuj.
“Pakistani military also resorted to air intrusions using drones and firing of heavy calibre weapons along the Line of Control,” she added. “The Indian Armed Forces remain committed to non-escalation, provided the Pakistani side reciprocates.”
Colonel Sofiya Qureshi confirmed that in response, India carried out “precision strikes” on Pakistani command and control centres, radar sites, ammunition dumps, and targeted the Sialkot aviation base, ensuring minimal collateral damage.
The situation intensified further with Pakistan’s reported shelling of Rajouri, which resulted in the death of an Indian government official, according to Misri.
The MEA reiterated India’s resolve to defend its sovereignty and protect civilians, even as it urged Pakistan to cease its cross-border aggression. Tensions remain high along the western border, with both sides trading accusations and sustaining military posturing amid global calls for de-escalation.
