India Meteorological Department predicts rain and thundershowers over Northeast

Guwahati, April 20 : Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted rain, thunderstorms, and gusty winds across the region, with yellow and orange warnings for several states in the region till April 23.

A yellow alert is issued on rainfall ranging between 64.5 mm and 115. 5 mm. An orange alert is issued when rainfall totals between 115.6 and 204.4 mm in a single day disrupting normal life.

Thunderstorm and lightning with gusty winds with speeds reaching up to 40-50 kmph are very likely to occur at isolated places over Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland and Manipur, and 30-40 kmph are very likely to occur at isolated places over Mizoram and Tripura.

Heavy rain is very likely to occur at isolated places over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland and Manipur.

The IMD’s yellow warning spans over several northeastern states including Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura.

An orange warning has been predicted over Arunachal Pradesh, with torrential downpours and intense thunderstorms.
