Guwahati, Jan 22: The Indian Air Force (IAF) is going to conduct military exercises once again on the eastern border with China.
The Air Force will conduct a command level exercise in the Eastern Sector from February 1 to February 5, 2023.
This is the second Air Force exercise after China’s clash with Indian troops in Arunachal Pradesh’s Tawang in December last year.
“The exercise named Eastern Sky is being conducted after a gap of two years due to the Covid pandemic. In this exercise, the Air Force will test all its components such as fighter aircraft, helicopters, UAVs and transport aircraft in practice. Along with fighters like Sukhoi and Rafale, attack helicopter Apache and transport helicopter Chinook will also participate in this exercise,” said an official.
In this exercise, fighters, transports and helicopters will fly from Hasimara and Kalaikunda in West Bengal; Tezpur and Chabua in Assam as well as airstrips in Arunachal Pradesh.
This exercise also becomes more important because at present the tension between India and China has increased on the border i.e. LAC. Relations between the two countries have not been good for almost three and a half years.
