Shillong, April 16: In a significant move to bolster operational preparedness, the Indian Army’s Spear Corps has successfully conducted a field exercise in forward areas, showcasing its readiness to operate in challenging terrains and under evolving combat scenarios.
The exercise, held in rugged and mountainous regions, demonstrated the integration of New Generation Equipment (NGEs) and New Generation Weapons (NGWs) as part of the Army’s ongoing transformation drive under the themes “Year of Technology Absorption” and “Year of Transformation.”

Key focus areas included enhanced mobility, real-time intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR), and advanced communication systems—all aimed at building a swift, silent, and smart tactical force. These capabilities are crucial for modern, technology-driven battlefields that demand speed, precision, and agility.
The use of cutting-edge platforms and modern combat systems during the exercise enabled faster decision-making, seamless information sharing, and synchronized battlefield awareness. These improvements significantly boosted the operational agility and effectiveness of the participating units.
The Indian Army, through such initiatives, continues to push the boundaries of innovation and adaptability. The exercise stands as a testament to its commitment to transforming into a technologically advanced force, ready to face the dynamic challenges of modern warfare with enhanced jointness and combat efficiency.
