Shillong, April 19: The Indian Racing Festival – a carnival of ‘Total Control’ – lit up the Director General Assam Rifles (DGAR) Cantonment in Laitkor on Saturday with a high-energy motorsport showcase that thrilled the the crowd filled with cars and bikes enthusiasts.
Organised in collaboration with the Meghalaya Motorsport Society and Assam Rifles (Laitkor), the event brought together speed, skill and local culture in an unforgettable experience.
Spectators were treated to exciting drifting demonstrations in powerful Lexus and BMW cars, stunt shows on Superbikes and impressive karting performances by young racers on their Rotax Karts. Adding to the lively atmosphere, students from Martin Luther Christian University performed a traditional dance, blending the energy of motorsport with the spirit of local culture.
Lt. Gen. Lakhera expressed his delight at the event, saying it was a great way to bring people together and inspire youth through sport.
“It’s been a pleasure to collaborate with all our partners for this special edition of the JK Tyre Indian Racing Festival. Sports spread joy and positivity, and Assam Rifles is proud to support such vibrant initiatives in the region. Let’s keep the wheels moving and the energy high”, said the Lieutenant.

Hari Singh, Head of Operations at JK Tyre Motorsport, said the crowd’s energy and the scenic beauty of Shillong made the event truly special.
Singh said, “Bringing the Indian Racing Festival to Meghalaya has been truly special. The crowd’s passion, the stunning setting, and the cultural vibrance made this stop unforgettable. It’s about showcasing talent, but also about igniting dreams in the next generation of motorsport fans”.

The event was graced by Lieutenant General Vikas Lakhera, Director General of Assam Rifles, as the Chief Guest and East Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner Rosetta Mary Kurbah as Guest of Honour.
The event was powered by JK Tyre’s Levitas Ultra range and offered a glimpse into the world of professional motorsport. The Indian Racing Festival now heads to Guwahati on April 20 and Gangtok on April 22.
