New Delhi, May 17: India’s growing influence on the world stage is being fuelled not just by its economic and geopolitical clout, but also by its rich philosophical tradition and innovative ideas, according to India’s Ambassador to France, Jawed Ashraf.
Ashraf, speaking in a recent event, highlighted the significance of India’s role in a world order undergoing a significant shift from a unipolar to a multipolar structure. He emphasized the interconnectedness of these factors, underlining the need for India to strengthen its presence abroad, particularly in the realm of cinema.
“As India takes its rightful place as a major player in this new world order, it’s crucial that we project our voice and stories on a global scale,” Ambassador Ashraf stated. “Cinema offers a powerful platform to showcase our culture, values, and perspectives to a wider audience.”
This call to action comes as India’s global profile continues to rise. The world’s largest democracy boasts a burgeoning economy, a young and dynamic population, and a vibrant cultural heritage. Strengthening its cinematic presence abroad could be a key step in solidifying India’s position as a major force in the coming decades.
