Aizawl, Nov 24: A female staff member of Indigo Airlines was rewarded on Thursday for her bravery and helping Mizoram police seize methamphetamine (crystal meth drugs) worth over Rs 25.49 crore from two Myanmar nationals and ammunition from a passenger from Manipur.
The Indigo staff was posted at the Lengpui airport in Aizawl.
According to the police, Vanlalruati had detected 10 packets of suspected drugs weighing 10.2 kg with an estimated value of Rs 25,494,000 during the screening of check-in baggage at the Indigo screening point on October 3.
Mizoram Director General of Police Anil Shukla on Thursday rewarded H. T. Vanlalruati, an executive security at Indigo Airlines, with Rs 5,000 and a letter of appreciation.
The contraband was found in two blue suitcases belonging to two women passengers, Lalremthangi and Tinchuaii of Letpanchhawng from neighbouring Myanmar.
They were about to board a flight to New Delhi.
A case was registered at the special Narcotics police station under sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substance Act 1985 and Foreigners Act 1946.
