Inter-Ministerial Committee approves Greater Baghmara Water Supply Scheme

Shillong, Dec 24: Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma has informed that the Inter-Ministerial Committee (IMC) has approved the Greater Baghmara Water Supply Scheme that aims to benefit the residents of Baghmara in South Garo Hills district.

Thanking Prime Minister Narendra Modi and DONER Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh, Chief Minister wrote on his Social Media page, “The Greater Baghmara Water Supply Scheme has been approved by the Inter-Ministerial Committee (IMC) at ₹63.50 Cr under #NESIDS of the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region, Government of India with GoI assistance of ₹47.54 Cr and State’s contribution of ₹15.96 Cr.”

The estimated ₹ 63.50 crore project is being funded by the North East Special Infrastructure Development Scheme (NESIDS), under the Ministry of DoNER, Government of India. Under this scheme, the Centre will provide assistance of ₹47.54 Cr and the State’s contribution of ₹15.96 Cr.

Meanwhile, the Inter-Ministerial Committee (IMC) has also approved the change in the scope of work for the Integrated Police Welfare Complex at Baghmara. This scheme is sanctioned under the North East Special Infrastructure Development Scheme (NESIDS), Ministry of DoNER, Government of India.

“Happy to announce that the IMC has approved the change in the scope of work for the Integrated Police Welfare Complex at Baghmara under #NLCPR Scheme sanctioned in 2012-13 at ₹12.85 Cr. to ₹17.21 Cr with GoI share of ₹12.85 Cr,” Chief Minister Sangma said.
