Jowai, April 1: The Jaiñtia Youth Federation – Jowai Circle (JYF-JC) on Friday met the Deputy Commissioner of West Jaiñtia Hills, Garod LSN Dykes, to apprise him on the garbage problem in and around Jowai town.

The Federation said dumped waste is an impending threat to the residents of the town as the smell is unbearable and swarm of flies are affecting the nearby localities where the garbage is dumped.

The JFY-Jowai Circle urged the Deputy Commissioner to direct the Jowai Municipal Board (JMB) to remove the garbage and to spray chemicals at the garbage site to prevent any disease from spreading.

The Deputy Commissioner assured the Federation to take up the matter seriously and also informed that he had directed the Jowai Municipal Board to remove the garbage at the earliest.
