JEE Main 2024 by NTA: Students find mathematics moderate, physics easy, and chemistry easy

Shillong, Jan 30: The National Testing Agency (NTA) held the Joint Entrance Examination Main (JEE Main) 2024 on January 30. According to student feedback, the mathematics section was deemed moderate, while physics and chemistry were considered easy.

During the morning session, students found the entire exam to be well-balanced.

The JEE Main 2024 Exam consisted of three subjects: physics, chemistry, and mathematics. The paper was worth a total of 300 marks and included questions from both the Class 11 and Class 12 syllabi of the CBSE board. Students observed that there was a greater emphasis on Class 12 chapters in math and physics.

Ajay Sharma, National Academic Director of Engineering at Aakash BYJU’s, analysed the paper and noted that chemistry and physics were relatively easy to moderate, while mathematics was considered moderately challenging compared to previous shifts.

JEE Main 2024, January 30: Analysis of Mathematics Paper

The math paper for JEE Main 2024 held on January 30 had a moderate level of difficulty. It covered questions from various chapters, with a particular focus on calculus and algebra. The exam included multiple questions on topics like vectors, 3D geometry, matrices, limits, and differential equations.

In the calculus section, the questions revolved around continuity and differentiability, indefinite integrals, area, and differential equations. As for algebra, the exam included questions on probability, the binomial theorem, complex numbers, statistics, progressions, quadratic equations, matrices, and determinants. In the coordinate geometry part, students were tested on their knowledge of circles and ellipses. The numerical section required lengthy calculations from the calculus and coordinate geometry chapters.

Overall, the math paper consisted of a wide range of questions from different chapters, providing a comprehensive assessment of the students’ understanding of various mathematical concepts.

A few questions were reported as lengthy.

JEE Main 2024 January 30 Exam Analysis: Physics

The level of difficulty for the physics paper conducted today was moderate. The questions covered various topics such as kinematics, laws of motion, work power and energy, gravitation, heat and thermodynamics, magnetism, optics (two questions), capacitance, current electricity, modern physics, and semiconductors. Both multiple-choice questions (MCQs) and numerical-based questions were lengthy. Additionally, there were a few fact-based questions from the Class 12 chapters of NCERT. Students felt that more emphasis was given to the Class 12 chapters in this section.

JEE Main 2024 January 30th Exam Analysis: Chemistry

The chemistry paper for today’s exam was analysed to be at an easy level. Some questions were directly sourced from the NCERT textbook, which made this section relatively easier.

Organic and physical chemistry were given more importance compared to inorganic chemistry. The questions covered topics such as ionic equilibrium, thermodynamics, atomic structure, chemical bonding (including a match list type question), mole concept, chemical kinetics, general organic chemistry (two questions), IUPAC names, alcohol, ether, and phenol, amines, aryl and alkyl halides, coordination compounds, d and f block elements, and the periodic table.
