Guwahati, Jan 7: The 13th edition of the Jeevan Kite Festival is currently underway at the Brahmaputra riverbank near Guwahati’s Fancy Bazar. The primary goal is to not only clean up the banks of urban rivers but also repurpose them for engaging in cultural activities.

The kite festival is scheduled from January 4th to January 8th, 2024.

This festival is popular in many cultures, bringing people together to enjoy the vibrant colours and creative designs of kites soaring in the sky.

It’s a great way to promote community spirit and celebrate the start of the new year.

Founder of Jeevan Kite Festival, Suresh Ranjan Guduka, said, “This is our 13th consecutive year; we basically selected the river bank part, which is full of garbage, and then we cleaned up, and we made a creative and cultural kind of festival. We want the urban youth of the new generation to come to the river bank because in urban areas, river banks are like those that dump garbage, and tourists can’t come here. We, even the citizens, can’t come here. So, we want to have this like a happening place, and this is a symbolic initiative.
