Jowai, Sept 16: In what can be described as a scene straight out of a heist film, minus the cinematic finesse, the Deputy Commissioner’s office of West Jaintia Hills in Jowai wore a completely wrecked makeover on Monday morning.
As the guards opened the office doors, they found the office corridors had been stripped of electrical wires, LAN cables, and CCTV cables— literally leaving the place in the dark.
Adding to the twist, which establishes the mastery of the thieves, no one knows when the theft actually took place as none heard a sound over the weekend when the crime took place.
Moreover, it is reported that just one chowkidar was on duty in the office, whereas there are multiple entries into the office building.
Finding the culprits is going to get even harder as it was discovered that the office was yet to install CCTV cameras in the premises.
Till filing of this report, the office had yet to restore power.
A case has been registered at Jowai Police Station and the investigation into the matter is going on.
