Jowai, May 23: The residents of Jowai Town have recently complained about the poor quality of water supplied by the PHE Department especially after heavy rains, turning to colour of the Myntdu River, which is the source of water supply of the town.
SDO of the Department, R. Challam informed that the cleaning of the Water Treatment Plant (WTP) located at Oorkhla, Khimmusniang started since the May 13.
Challam informed that the cleaning process is underway of the Water Tank and the Main Reservoirs at Jowai Government Boys HSS and Dongmihsngi, Jowai.
He further informed that the department in the process to clean all the water tanks located at all localities of Jowai Town and urged the public to cooperate with the department.
The ‘Khooid Ya Ka Wah Myntdu’ Khooid Ya Ka Wah Myntdu — an organisation committed to the conservation of the River Myntdu under the leadership of its President KL Pariat inspected the cleaning process.
