JSU seeks halting of CUET in Meghalaya

Must read

Shillong, May 2: The Jaiñtia Students’ Union (JSU) has demanded the State Government to urge the Centre to put on hold the registration for the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) in the State of Meghalaya.

JSU General Secretary Teiborlang Suchen said that the students should continue in registering their names but it is the duty of the State Government hold held dialogues with the Centre to put on hold CUET in the State. “Students in the state mostly from the rural areas are not aware of the procedures of the CUET, most of them have no access to the internet and this has created such a huge problem for them… therefore the state government should communicate this to the centre,” he said.

Suchen also stated that if the Tamil Nadu Assembly can adopt a resolution urging the Union government to drop the proposal of CUET (Common University Entrance Test), the State Government of Meghalaya should consider the same.

Mentionably, the CUET has been introduced for admission into all Under Graduate (UG) Programmes in all Central Universities for academic session 2022-23 under the Ministry of Education (MoE) and will be conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA).

The NTA will soon set up centres in all the district headquarters of the state for conducting the CUET, which will be held in July.
