Must read

Guwahati, Jan 19: Union Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla and Director of Intelligence Bureau Tapan Deka met Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in New Delhi On Wednesday regarding the surrender of KLO chief Jeevan Singha.

According to sources, possibility of surrender of dreaded KLO leader Jeevan Singha was discussed during the meeting.

KLO has been demanding a separate State comprising parts of Assam and West Bengal for the Koch Rajbonshi community.

However, there is no confirmation about the issues discussed by the two top central government officials with the chief minister.

Sources said Jeevan Singha has returned from his hideout in Myanmar and ready for peace talks with the government.

Last year, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma had invited the outfit for “peace talks”.

KLO leaders have a number of cases pending against them in Bengal and Jeevan Singha himself has been charged under the UAPA.

Meanwhile, central government agencies have remained tight-lipped about the whereabouts of the KLO leader.
