Shillong, Feb 11: Chief of the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) Pyniaid Sing Syiem on Tuesday demanded review of the existing electoral roll for the upcoming ADC elections, following the detection of the names of non-tribal voters.

In a letter to the Deputy Commissioner of East Khasi Hills District RM Kurbah, Syiem said there is need to review the electoral roll for the upcoming district council election in the district.

“As we prepare for the Elections, it is crucial that the Electoral Roll reflects the accurate and updated information of all eligible voters in the district. I respectfully request you to initiate a thorough review of the existing electoral roll since there are some non-tribal voters and non-Khasi voters appeared in the electoral roll. The review will help ensure a fair and transparent election process,” he stated.

“I kindly urge you to prioritize this matter and take the necessary steps to facilitate the review in a timely manner, keeping in mind the significance of accurate voter lists for the successful conduct of the elections,” Syiem also added in the letter.
