Shillong, Dec 20: The KHADC has collected Rs10,68,59,351 crores from the professional tax till November 2024.
This was informed by Executive Member (EM) in-charge of Taxation, Fantin Joseph Lakadong while replying to the query raised by Leader of the Opposition, Titos W Chyne.
Lakadong said “In my opinion as the EM of Trade, since the online payment of taxes, the collection of taxes has reached Rs. 7.23 crores from April to November 2024″.
“Compared to the revenue collection in the year 2023-2024, from April 2023 to November 2024, Rs. 7.19 crores has been collected” he added.
Lakadong said that there is evidence that since the introduction of allowing the public to pay these taxes online, there has been an increase in the collection of Professional Tax.
He added that with the introduction of online payment, people now don’t have to come to the district council but they simply go to cyber cafes to make these online payments.
