Shillong, Jan 31: Independent candidate from Nongthymmai constituency Erson Marwein on Friday announced his decision to withdraw his candidature for the upcoming elections to the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC).

Speaking to media persons, Marwein said his decision was based on his supporters’ suggestion on the need to extend full support to the KHADC chief and sitting National People’s Party (NPP) MDC from Sohryngkham Pyniaid Sing Syiem, who has decided to contest from Nongthymmai constituency.

“Accordingly, I had convened a meeting on January 29 and it was unanimously decided that I, along with my supporters, will be supporting Pyniaid Sing Syiem in the upcoming ADC elections,” he said.
