Shillong, Feb 17: National People’s Party (NPP) state president and deputy chief minister Prestone Tynsong has said the party is committed to the development of Ri War and assured to convert the Pynursla market into another Khyndailad (Police Bazaar) before 2028.
He also slammed certain MLAs for failing to knock on the secretariat’s door for development of their own constituencies but are quick to blame government for being bias.
Addressing at an election campaign to garner support for sitting MDC from Nongshken Grace Mary Kharpuri and candidate from Langkyrdem-Laitkroh Rahboklang Tynsong at Pynursla on Monday, Prestone said, “We are committed to further bring development to the constituency, the Ri War and the state as a whole. We want to construct a proper parking lot by shfiting the office PWD to other location and we will make this place into another Police Bazaar. It will be a big blessing for the Ri War. I assure before 2028, we will ensure complete tranformation of this place. This will happen by working in close coordination with the dorbar shnong.”
The deputy chief minister also expressed concern over the attacks against him and his government in the social media platforms and said that despite the attempt to spread misinformation by the opposition, the people of Pynursla were not easily influenced by them
“The people of Pynursla are very respectable people and it is because of you I am what I am today. Therefore, I urge the people of my constituency to extend full support to Grace Mary Kharpuri and Rahboklang Tynsong and ensure both come out victorious so that they can be my right hand and left hand to work for the development of the constituency,” he said.
“No doubt, there are limited schemes in the ADCs but that is okay because with them working together with me, schemes will overflow like the ocean in the constituency. Therefore, you should ensure both our candidates come out victorious in the ADC elections,” he further assured.
He also claimed that the opponents were speechless when the government ensured the mini secretariat at Pynursla becomes a reality and said, “I am committed to the development of each and every village of the constituency. After completion of the two-lane road, it will be a blessing for the Ri War. We are lucky that we are in the government. God is blessing old Langkyrdem constituency, Pynusla constituency because I always get a chair in the secretariat (since election). This is my fifth term and you can expect that many are jealous and. They may attempt to bring us down but we will never give them a chance.”
On the opposition’s allegation that the government is bias, Prestone however said, “How can you allege that I am bias when I have never seen you come to meet me in my room? If you want development, come to the secretariat and request Prestone to help you.”
He also slammed a particular opposition party for saying that only love for the jaidbynriew is enough and that people do not need development despite of promising them during the elections.
“It is the duty of each and every MLA or MDC to knock on the door of the secretariat for development of their respective constituencies. However, it is unfortunate that some of the MLAs are not doing that and this has a negative impact on their constituencies and the people. Therefore, I urge you not to allow such leaders to fool you by claiming that they love the jaidbynriew. Charity begins at home. You should first bring the necessary change in your own constituency before you talk big about bring change to the entire state. It is the duty of of each and every MLA or MDC to address the problems faced by the people of their respective constituencies,” the NPP state chief stated further.
