Britain, Feb 11: After being diagnosed with cancer, Britain’s King Charles has released his first statement, expressing gratitude towards those who have sent him messages of support and well-wishes. In his statement, he said, ‘I am deeply grateful for the overwhelming outpouring of support and good wishes I have received in recent days.’
On Monday, Buckingham Palace informed that King Charles, aged 75, had received a cancer diagnosis, just under 18 months into his reign. The palace further stated that certain engagements would be postponed to accommodate his treatment.
“As all those who have been affected by cancer will know, such kind thoughts are the greatest comfort and encouragement,” King Charles said.
The king expressed appreciation for the attention drawn to organizations providing support to cancer patients in Britain and beyond, following his diagnosis. This announcement follows Charles’ recent hospitalization in January for a corrective procedure related to a benign enlarged prostate, spanning three nights.
King Charles emphasized his gratitude towards medical professionals and cancer charities, stating, “My lifelong admiration for their tireless care and dedication is further strengthened by my own personal experience.”
Buckingham Palace has refrained from disclosing specific details regarding King Charles’ condition, except to clarify that it does not involve prostate cancer. However, they have affirmed that King Charles maintains a wholly positive outlook and eagerly anticipates resuming public duties at the earliest opportunity.
Queen Camilla stated on Thursday that King Charles’ condition is progressing “extremely well.”
