Kokrajhar, July 29: Kokrajhar will host the first match of the Durand Cup, between Northeast United FC and Bodoland FC at SAI stadium on July 30. The Opening Ceremony will also take place on the same day.
A series of thrilling military displays from the three services of the Indian Armed Forces and a cultural fiesta by the locals are lined up to add to the festivities to the opening ceremony. These celebrations coincide with the Anti-Terrorism Day being celebrated in the Bodoland Territorial Region, marking the return of normalcy, peace, and prosperity.
The Indian Army is in close coordination with the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) and has left no stone unturned to make the event a grand success. The stadium has undergone extensive renovations in the run-up to the tournament, including the upgrade of floodlights for night matches and the installation of a state-of-the-art drainage system to ensure smooth conduct of matches even during rain.
Football enthusiasts can expect a thrilling contest between the local team, Bodoland FC, and North East United FC in the inaugural match. Other chapters are being held in the cities of Kolkata, Shillong, and Jamshedpur. A total of 24 teams will be participating in the tournament, vying for the three coveted Durand Cup Trophies.
