Tura, Nov 13: The first-ever KrimKro Music Festival was held at Baljek Jengjal on Saturday, drawing a diverse crowd of over 30,000 music enthusiasts. The festival, dedicated to celebrating musical diversity, showcased a captivating line-up that spanned traditional Garo folk instrumental performances to contemporary rap, ensuring a rich and varied experience for attendees with diverse musical tastes.
The crowd, representing a vibrant musical preferences, gathered to revel in the power of music that unites communities. KrimKro Music Festival showcased a rich and colourful blend of sounds, fostering an inclusive environment that embraced the varied musical heritage of the region.
A standout moment at the KrimKro Music Festival was the enchanting performance of Garo folk instrumental by Rongdiping Socio Cultural Club (Resu) and MOA. Their captivating presentation transported the audience to the heart of traditional rhythms and melodies, showcasing the cultural richness of the region. This performance also emphasised the event’s dedication to preserving and promoting indigenous musical artistry, marking a significant cultural milestone.
Beyond the diverse musical acts, the KrimKro Music Festival left a lasting impact by integrating a social awareness element. A notable moment was the acclaimed A•chik Theatre Tura taking center stage to present a thought-provoking drama addressing the pressing issue of drug abuse. Their compelling performance with a powerful message, prompting attendees to reflect on the social challenges surrounding substance abuse and adding a valuable dimension to the festival’s cultural and social impact.
Nokpante Production who curated the krimkro music festival in a statement released said, “We are thrilled with the overwhelming response to the first edition of KrimKro Music Festival.”
“The turnout and enthusiasm of the attendees have exceeded our expectations, and we are grateful for the support of the community. KrimKro is not just a festival; it’s a celebration of diversity, culture, and the unifying power of music,” it added.
Nokpante Productions also extended their gratitude to Assistant Director of Tourism, B.S. Marak, and the dedicated Meghalaya tourism officials who were actively involved in both ideation and execution of the festival.
It also informed that after the success of its inaugural edition, the KrimKro Music Festival is already gearing up for the next chapter.
