Shillong, Jan 3: President of the Kutumba Surakshya Parishad (KSP) Satya Ranjan Borah on Friday said the Church is not a place to chant “Jai Shree Ram”.
Urging people to respect every religion, Borah said, “Everyone has the right to live, to worship and the right to express and I think at the same time India being a secular country, everyone has to respect every faith, every religion, every caste and community. Church is not for Jai Shree Ram.”
He was commenting on the recent incident at a church in Mawlynnong, which is one of the cleanest villages in Asia. Recently, a social media influencer with over 1.5 million followers posted a video of him chanting “Jai Shree Ram” inside a Church in Mawlynnong. The video has sparked wide-scale outrage as people are not happy with the influencer’s act.
“They have to respect the church and churches also have to respect the mandirs, the temples and they have to respect us as respect is both ways. It cannot be done one way,” the KSP president said.
“So everyone has to respect what is there in the church and all churches have to respect what we have in the temples also,” he remarked.
