Shillong, June 23: The Khasi Students’ Union (KSU) has demanded thorough investigation into the alleged attack of the Border Security Force (BSF) against a family at Kuliang along the international border in East Jaintia Hills District on June 19.
In a complaint lodged with the Deputy Commissioner, KSU said, “This letter serves as a formal complaint and a request for a thorough investigation into the misconduct and brutality displayed by the alleged BSF personnel. We urge the authorities to take swift and decisive action to ensure that justice is served and that such egregious acts are not repeated.”
The KSU also demanded that the perpetrators should be brought to justice and that necessary protection and support should be extended to the family.
The complaint said on June 19, individuals claiming to be BSF forcefully entered the residence of Shanroi Lyngdoh Lyngkhoi by breaking open the door without any uniform identification.
“Subsequently, they launched a violent attack on the family, causing serious harm to Lyngkhoi, including breaking his rib, and physically assaulted and molested Alishalis Pohshna. Lyngkhoi, along with Alishalis Pohshna and Martina Pohshna , were subjected to a harrowing ordeal as these individuals brandished weapons taken from the victims own home, including an axe and a knife. Despite their attempts to defend themselves, they were overpowered, and Lyngkhoi sustained significant injuries, including a broken rib. Subsequently, at around 12:30 AM on 20th June 2024, the assailants returned with a larger group of approximately 15 people, further intensifying the assault on Lyngkhoi. They resorted to physical violence, including molestation and harassment towards the 15-year-old girl, Miss. Alishalis Pohshna, leading to distressing outcomes such as tearing her undergarments,” it said.

It further said the trauma inflicted upon the family, especially the young daughter, is deeply distressing and requires immediate attention and action.
“Such egregious actions by individuals purporting to represent a law enforcement agency like the BSF are deeply concerning and warrant immediate intervention. The blatant disregard for human rights, the unlawful intrusion into our property, and the perpetration of physical and emotional trauma demand swift and decisive action to ensure justice and prevent the recurrence of such atrocities,” it added.
