Imphal, Jan 18: A four-member delegation of the Kuki-Zo Council (KZC) met senior officials of the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) in New Delhi on Friday to discuss their demands and the prevailing situation in the northeastern state of Manipur.
Led by KZC Chairman Henlianthang Thanglet, the delegation included Spokesperson Ginza Vualzong, Coordinator Ajang Khongsai, and Finance Secretary Richard Hmar. They met with MHA Adviser A.K. Mishra and Joint Director Rajesh Kamble.
The KZC leaders stated that the details of the discussions would be disclosed on Saturday.
According to council sources, the delegation highlighted the precarious conditions in tribal-inhabited areas and expressed concerns about the alleged biased actions of certain security personnel. They also pointed out administrative deprivation faced by the tribal community.
The KZC, an umbrella group of 13 Kuki-Zo organizations, along with 10 tribal MLAs, has been demanding a separate administration equivalent to a Union Territory for the tribal-dominated areas of the Kuki-Zo-Hmar communities.
