SHILLONG, APR 10: A labourer succumbed to his injuries on Wednesday after he along with two others were assaulted by miscreants at Mawlai Mawroh.
The incident took place at around 11.15 am.
East Khasi Hills SP Rituraj Ravi informed that some unknown miscreants assaulted 3 labourers working at an under construction house at Mawlai Mawroh.
“Due to the assault, one person identified as Shri Arjun Ray (52 years) got severely injured and later passed away at NEIGRIHMS,” he said.
“In this connection, a case is being registered and investigation is under progress to identify the culprits,” he added.
Meanwhile, Cabinet Minister AL Hek, who is also the local MLA of Pynthorumkhrah, has assured to take the matter up with the Chief Minister of Meghalaya, Conrad K Sangma, and the Central government to ensure stringent action is taken.
Strongly condemning this inhumane act, Hek said that such barbaric acts will not be tolerated, and the culprits should not be spared.
