Guwahati, July 30: Lakshman Prashad Acharya took oath as Governor of Assam on Tuesday afternoon at Srimanta Sankardeva International Auditorium in Guwahati.
The new Assam Governor was administered the oath of office by Justice Vijay Bishnoi, Chief Justice of the Guwahati High Court.
Lakshman Prashad Acharya was sworn in as the 32nd Governor of Assam.
The Chief Minister of Assam, Himanta Biswa Sarma including several ministers of Assam, MLA s, and Officials present for the swearing in ceremony.
The former Sikkim Governor, who was appointed as the new Assam Governor by President Droupadi Murmu.
Lakshman Prashad Acharya, was a former RSS and BJP member, was born on October 3,1954, and he was a member of the Legislative Council from Uttar Pradesh from 2015 to 2023.
Acharya will hold additional charge of Manipur, and was the Governor of Sikkim prior to the new appointment.
