Shillong, Dec 18: Lambor Malngiang, Chairman of Meghalaya State Planning Board and MLA/MDC of Nongkrem Constituency, today inaugurated the Community Hall of Laitkor Dorbar Pyllun at Laitkor, Shillong.
The project which commenced in the year 2016 was initiated by late H. S. Shylla, former Minister and ex-CEM of Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC), during his tenure as MDC of Nongkrem Constituency. Implemented by the KHADC, an amount of Rs 15,00,000/- was sanctioned under the Special Assistance Scheme 2015-2016 towards the project. As the work lay uncompleted, initiative was taken by the present MLA/MDC, Lambor Malngiang to facilitate its completion and another Rs 10,00,000/- was sanctioned under the Under Excluded Areas 2018-2019 scheme for the project.
Addressing the gathering, Lambor Malngiang expressed happiness over the completion of the Community Hall and informed that another 45 lakhs have been further sanctioned for the extension of the Community Hall which will include the construction of a counselling center and a commercial complex, which will help generate income for the Dorbar Shnong which in turn can be used for the development of the area as a whole. He also informed rolling out of several schemes such as construction of schools, water supply schemes, installation of streetlights, etc. for the welfare of the youth, women and the community at large.
Others who spoke on the occasion were P. T. Passah, BDO, Mylliem C&RD Block, Sweet C. Syiemiong, daughter of late H. S. Shylla, Paiem Ainam Manik Syiem, Acting Syiem Hima Mylliem and Leonard Arun Mawri, Chairman Laitkor Dorbar Pyllun.
The programme was attended by Rangbah Shnong, Secretary Shnong, Rangbah Dong, Seng Samla Shnong, Seng Kynthie of Laitkor Pyllun and representatives of Laitkor Sports Club.
