Nongpoh, July 16: The ongoing continuous rainfall has led to another landslide on the essential National Highway-6 in Ri Bhoi. The landslide has occurred at Pahamrynñai village.
According to information available, no injury or damage was reported, except for temporary traffic congestion on the highway.
Due to the traffic disruption, authorities from the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) and the Ri Bhoi Police from the Nongpoh Traffic Branch promptly arrived at the scene. They worked immediately to clear the fallen trees and soil that had covered the road.
During this time, there was a temporary traffic congestion, requiring vehicles to travel on one side of the road (wrong side) while the authorities cleared the debris.
In view of the frequent landslides and incessant rains, authorities have urged the public to remain vigilant while travelling.
Areas prone to landslides and soil erosion include Ladlasharai, Umran, Umsamlem, Quiñine, Umling, and other locations in Ri Bhoi district along the NH 6.
