Landslides and rain disrupt connectivity in Arunachal Pradesh

Must read

Itanagar, July 8: Several towns in the Kurung Kumey districts including Sarli, Polosang, Paniasang, Damin, and Parsi Parlo have been completely cut off due to heavy landslides in Arunachal Pradesh.

According to reports, heavy rains over the past few weeks have washed away bridges and roads in Arunachal Pradesh leading to significant connectivity problems.

The Deputy Commissioner of Kurung Kumey district Vishakha Yadav said that the road towards Damin via Parsi Parlo is severely blocked due to the rainfall, with the RWD working overnight to clear it.

“The concerned departments have been working to restore electricity and water,” he said.

“Due to delays in restoration efforts by state departments such as the Highways, RWD, and the Central agency BRO, the people are facing problems,” a local resident alleged.

An Emergency coordination meeting post network connectivity in headquarters was held to review the Disaster Response and Recovery in the wake of incessant rainfall and landslides, held by Deputy Cimmissioner. Road clearances, rationing supplies, network and civic amenities restoration have been worked out.
