Dibrugarh, Mar 4: Security forces recovered huge cache of ammunition hidden in Lawnu village near Kanubari in Arunachal Pradesh Longding district on Monday.
It was allegedly dumped by a joint group of ULFA(I) and NSCN(K-YA) for subsequent use in Upper Assam on February 25, 2025.
Assam Rifles along with Arunachal Police, equipped with specialized teams carrying metal detectors and explosive detector dogs carried out search operation in the area.
While they were moving towards Lawnu village from Kanubari, based on Human intelligence the search was diverted to Kamka Rusa village which was enroute to Lawnu village, where the cache hidden astride the road and buried under ground in plastic sheets was discovered.
During the operation, a total of 474 Rounds of various calibers including AK -47, M -16 and SLR were recovered from the area, making it one of the largest recoveries of ammunition in South Arunachal in the recent times.
The success of the Security Forces have severely affected the nefarious plans of the insurgent groups who have been trying to intimidate locals along the Assam- Arunachal Border.
This operation will help in maintaining peace and stability in South Arunachal Pradesh.
