Guwahati, July 24: At least 11 country-made rifles were recovered after a joint operation was launched by Military Intelligence and Kokrajhar police in Assam’s Kokrajhar.
The rifles were recovered after getting specific inputs, by Military Intelligence Tezpur regarding the presence of a large cache of arms in the general area of Dakshin Galajoda under Kokrajhar police station.
“We launched the joint operation on Tuesday at around 8.50 pm resulting in the recovery of 11 country-made rifles. We have seized all the rifles and kept it in police custody,” said a police official.
“We have been taking all possible measures to curb illegal activities in Kokrajhar. Our crackdown against such activity will continue” the police official said.
Taking to X(formerly Twitter), Assam DGP GP Singh said, “In continuing operations against hidden weapons from the dark days of militancy, 11 country made Rifles were recovered in Kokrajhar Police Station area by @KokraP on information provided by@adgpi. We would continue to scour the entire state and remove all vestiges of militancy.”
