Shillong, Jan 11: Meghalaya’s Education Minister, Rakkam Sangma, revealed on Wednesday that the planned launch of NCERT textbooks, originally set for January 16th, has been rescheduled due to the coinciding visit of the President. The revised launch date is now anticipated to be January 25th.
Sangma added that the books will be made available this month since they will start this academic year. “The NCERT textbooks will be adopted for subjects like English, math, and science this year since they require less editing and adaptation,” mentioned the education minister.
However, for the social science edition, the deletion has to be made, and they are forming a committee so that they can edit and local contents will be added. The exercise will be done this whole year, added Sangma.
The education department will make it mandatory to use the prescribed textbooks of the MBoSE. “This year we may not be able to completely implement it, but surely next year adoption of NCERT in MBoSE textbooks will be compulsory,” said Sangma.
