Baghmara, Oct 6: As part of the “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav”, a series of pan India Awareness and outreach program is being organized at different localities of South Garo Hills District by the District Legal Services Authority, South Garo Hills since October 2, 2021.
At Emangre Village during the Pan India awareness and outreach program, the Chief Judicial Magistrate, South Garo Hills District, Daniel S Marbaniang elaborated on the concept of ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’, the achievements and the success in terms of overall development in the country for the past 75 years and also how the youth of the nation have a major role to play both in the present as well as the future of our country.
He also extended his appreciation towards the Emangre village for setting up of Tourism Hub in their locality which is a shining example of progress.
He called upon the youth to enrol themselves as para legal volunteers to serve the local residents.
The District and Sessions Judge, Gasalynn Rani at Masighat Pan India awareness program spelt on the role of District Legal services Authority, Role and functions of Legal Aid Counsels (LAC). She further added that every citizen has the right to get free legal aid from the District Legal services Authority and urged the people to avail the free legal aid services whenever there are rape victims or Domestic violence within the society.
She also spoke on the roles and responsibilities of para Legal volunteers and encouraged the gathering to join as para Legal volunteers.
Similar programmes are being organized at different parts of the District where the people are given opportunity to interact and seek answers for various law and litigation related queries. Others who were present and spoke during the program included Simseng A Sangma, Officer incharge of Baghmara Police Station, and Milan M Sangma, Para Legal Volunteer of the District.
