Dibrugarh, May 24: Union Minister and senior BJP leader Sarbananda Sonowal paid his respects to the great Matak King Sarbananda Singh on the eve of the 222nd Punya Tithi on Friday.
On this occasion, organized by the Matak Rajvansh Unnayan Samiti and All Assam Matak Sanmilan, Sonowal also inaugurated a life-sized statue of the revered king.
Sarbananda Sonowal said, “the Mataks are a strong community in Assam, playing a crucial role in every significant aspect of the state’s national life. I urge the Matak community to actively contribute to realizing the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to build a developed and self-reliant India during this transformative period, guided by the noble ideals and unparalleled work of Sarbananda Singh. The strength of diverse ethnic groups ensures Assam’s strength, and a strong Assam translates to a strong India. We must never forget our past we must commit to protect, preserve, and promote our rich heritage, traditions, and culture.
In the days ahead, we are determined to continue working with renewed vigour to protect our nation’s foundation”, he further added.
