Lockdown extended in South West Garo Hills till August 2

Shillong, July 25: The District Magistrate of South West Garo Hills (SWGH) has extended the lockdown in the District by another week, i.e. from 5 AM of July 26 to 5 AM of August 02, 2021.

The containment measures have been extended in view of detection of high number of Covid-19 cases in the district and to prevent further surge in the cases.

Total lockdown has been enforced on Saturday and Sunday, with exception for goods transport and emergencies.

For medical and inter district transport of essential goods, the citizens need to apply for ‘e-PASS’.

Restrictions

– Weekly markets are not permitted

– Political, public, social, and religious gatherings are not permitted including conferences, meetings and trainings.

– Entry of tourists from outside the State and other districts shall not be permitted and all tourist spots shall remain closed in the district.

– All educational institutions shall remain closed in the entire district.

– Interstate movement of persons shall be restricted. This shall not apply for transit vehicles of Assam.

– Limited non-essential economic activities to be permitted in rural areas only on recommendation of the Representative Block Development Officers where the prevalence of active Covid-19 cases is NIL or very low.

– Funeral gathering is restricted to 10 persons with prior permission of the Deputy Commissioner

– Weddings are not permitted

– Sports activities are not permitted both indoor and outdoor.

Exemptions

– Shops dealing in essential commodities (including wholesale shops) allowed from Monday to Friday from 8 AM to 3 PM.

– Shops dealing in non-essential commodities (including wholesale shops) are allowed to open only three days a week i.e. Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 8 AM to 3 PM.

– Movement of commercial vehicles allowed on odd/even formula with 50 per cent of the seating capacity. Even numbered vehicles – Monday, Wednesday and Friday; Odd numbered vehicles – Tuesday and Thursday.

– Plying of trucks for international borders trade is allowed from Monday to Saturday (excluding Friday). The trucks are not allowed to stop on the way but proceed directly from stone quarry to their destinations.

– Hotels/ tea shops/restaurants are allowed for take away/home delivery only

– Ecommerce activities and courier services are permitted.

– Health services including vaccination. Person(s) moving for vaccination should be able to produce proof of COWIN registration and slot booking.

– Medicines and pharmaceuticals

– Movement of goods

– Movement of medical emergencies

– Persons travelling on essential government duties

– Petrol pumps

– 1917 iTeams

– Print and electronic media

– LPG distributors

– Essential veterinary services including feed and fodder movement for livestock and farming

– Road construction of National Highway and other important government projects including medical facilities

– Bank services and post offices

– Government staff on duty

– MGNREGA works in villages and farming activities.
